A stockbroker, Ryan, loses his job and license due to unethical practices. He moves in with his girlfriend, Cindy, an advice columnist who's struggling to keep her job. After Cindy leaves him for another man, Ryan decides to take over her job, pretending to be her. Despite initial struggles, he grows into the role and the column becomes a huge success. Ryan falls for Cindy's editor, Page, but keeps his feelings hidden while continuing to deceive her. Meanwhile, Cindy returns to claim her fame, and a rival newspaper owner tries to buy the column from Page.
