Biography

Troy Lee Winbush, a talented individual, was born on March 12, 1970, in the vibrant neighborhood of Harlem, New York. His early years were marked by his attendance at Louis B. Brandeis High School, where he earned the reputation as the class clown.

Troy's idol, Eddie Murphy, was a significant influence on his sense of humor, and he enjoyed making his classmates laugh. However, his jokes often disrupted the class, leading to constant discipline from his teachers. To channel his creative energy and avoid trouble at school, his mother enrolled him in Weist Barron acting school at the age of 14.

This marked the beginning of Troy's journey in the world of acting. That same year, he landed his first movie role in "Who's That Girl" alongside the legendary Madonna. Unfortunately, production was relocated to California due to bad weather, and Troy was eventually released from the project. Undeterred, he booked another film, "The Principle," just a few months later.

At the age of 15, Troy secured a recurring role on the iconic family comedy show "The Cosby Show" as Denny, a character he portrayed from 1987 to 1991. As he continued to work on both coasts, Troy made the decision to officially relocate to Los Angeles in 1998.

Throughout his career, Troy has co-starred in numerous feature films, including "John Q," "The Replacement," and "National Treasure." He has also appeared in a wide range of television shows, such as "Law & Order," "NYPD Blue," "CSI: Miami," "The Parkers," and "Medical Investigation," as well as more recent hits like "Scandal" and "The Big Bang Theory."

In addition to his work in TV and film, Troy has also pursued a career in stage plays, with notable productions including "(Joe Turner's) Come and Gone," "Pearly Victorious," "Gang on the Roof," and many others.

Today, Troy remains active in the entertainment industry while also dedicating his time to mentoring young teen boys in group homes. He encourages them to become better men and find success in whatever they pursue. Troy is also passionate about supporting important causes, such as breast cancer and cervical cancer research.

In his free time, he enjoys spending quality moments with his daughter, whom he loves and supports unconditionally. When not working or spending time with his loved ones, Troy can be found working out at the gym or taking a ride on his motorcycle, appreciating the beautiful Southern California weather.
