The Romanov dynasty comes to a close as Tsar Nicholas II, Russia's last monarch, is deposed and banished to Siberia with his family, following his increasing disregard for the welfare of his subjects.

The movie tells the tragic story of Nicholas II, the last Czar of Russia, set against the backdrop of the Russian Revolution. It explores the private lives of Nicholas and his wife Alexandra, their children, and their complicated relationship with Grigori Rasputin, a mystic who held a painful secret about their son. The story ultimately ends with the execution of the entire royal family.
