Biography

Julian Wyatt Glover was born on March 27, 1935, in Hampstead, London, England, to a notable family with a strong background in the media. His mother, Honor Ellen Morgan (Wyatt),was a BBC journalist, and his father, Claude Gordon Glover, was a BBC radio producer. This blend of English, Scottish, and Welsh ancestry has undoubtedly contributed to Glover's versatility as an actor.

Primarily a classical stage actor, Glover began his career by training at the National Youth Theatre. He then went on to perform with the Royal Shakespeare Company, solidifying his reputation as a skilled thespian. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Glover became a familiar face on British television, appearing in numerous popular series. His exceptional talent for accents and his ability to convey a sense of refinement and sophistication made him an ideal choice for playing refined villains.

Glover's extensive television credits include guest appearances in iconic series such as The Avengers (1961),Doctor Who (1963),Space: 1999 (1975),Blake's 7 (1978),Remington Steele (1982),and Merlin (2008). He also played the recurring role of Grand Master Pycelle in 31 episodes of the critically acclaimed HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones (2011).

In the 1980s, Glover achieved significant recognition in Hollywood with his roles in several blockbuster films. He played the role of General Maximilian Veers in Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980),the Greek villain Aristotle Kristatos in the James Bond film For Your Eyes Only (1981),Brian Harcourt-Smith in the Cold War thriller The Fourth Protocol (1987),and Walter Donovan in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989). In addition, Glover provided the voice of the giant spider Aragog in the film version of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002).

Throughout his illustrious career, Glover has received numerous accolades for his outstanding contributions to the world of drama. In 2013, he was awarded Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the Queen's Birthday Honours List for his services to drama.
