Biography

Maurice Denham, a renowned English character actor, initially gained recognition in the 1940s through his work on radio, impressing audiences with his versatility in a wide range of comedic characters on the most popular series of the time.

His foray into the film industry commenced in 1947 with the release of "The Smugglers," marking the beginning of a prolific career that would span numerous decades. Denham's remarkable talents truly came to the forefront in the animated feature "Animal Farm" (1954),in which he masterfully voiced all the animal characters, showcasing his exceptional range and skill.

Throughout his illustrious career, Denham's distinctive sharp features and bald head became a familiar sight on the big screen, often portraying charming yet slightly eccentric characters and well-bred cads. However, he was equally adept at playing dramatic roles, as evident in the war film "Sink the Bismarck!" (1960),where he played a naval officer tasked with hunting down and sinking the German battleship.

In addition to his extensive work in film, Denham also established a strong presence on television in the 1970s and continued to work steadily on the stage, solidifying his reputation as a talented and versatile actor.

Maurice Denham passed away at the age of 92 due to natural causes in London, England, leaving behind a legacy of unforgettable performances that continue to delight audiences to this day.
