Noah and Emma, along with their mother, visit their family's cottage on Whidbey Island while their father works. They discover a box of toys from the future and, as they play with them, develop extraordinary abilities, including genius-level intelligence. Their father is proud when Noah's design impresses at a science fair, and a teacher and mystic couple take notice. However, things take a turn when Noah accidentally activates a powerful generator, causing a blackout, and the family is arrested by the FBI. Emma realizes the importance of sending a mysterious stuffed rabbit, Mimzy, back to the future.
