The Glass Wall background

The Glass Wall

A desperate refugee, fleeing the chaos of World War II, takes a daring leap into the unknown by jumping ship in New York Harbor, driven by a quest to find a US veteran who can vouch for his right to stay in America.

Peter Kuban, a Hungarian refugee, arrives in New York City after stowing away on a ship, hoping to claim refugee status due to his wartime experiences, including saving an American paratrooper named Tom. However, without proper paperwork, Peter is denied entry and sent back to Trieste. Determined to survive, he escapes the ship and sets out to find Tom, who he believes will vouch for his story. With only $8 and a serious injury, Peter must navigate the city and find Tom before the ship sails, or risk being denied entry forever.
