Gabriel, an angel, returns to Earth to stop the birth of a child born to an angel and a human woman. The child's arrival has been foretold by a monk, Thomas. Gabriel's army is decimated by the child's father, Angel Danyael, so Gabriel turns to a teenage girl who recently died, Izzy, to aid him in his fight against Danyael and the other angels, culminating in a battle in Eden.
