Biography

Danny Strong began his illustrious career as an actor, appearing in numerous classic films and television shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gilmore Girls, before transitioning into screenwriting.

His script for Recount, released in 2007, was a massive success, ranking number one on the Hollywood Blacklist and ultimately becoming an award-winning HBO film.

Since then, Strong has established himself as a prolific film and television writer, director, and producer, earning numerous accolades for his work, including two Emmys, a Golden Globe, two WGA awards, a PGA Award, and the prestigious Peabody Award.

Throughout his career, Strong has demonstrated remarkable versatility, effortlessly moving between mediums and genres, from the political docudramas Recount and Game Change, to the civil rights epic The Butler, and the high-octane action blockbusters Hunger Games: Mockingjay (Part I II and).

As a television producer, Strong co-created the hit show Empire, which earned him the NAACP Image Award, and he also produced the critically acclaimed civil rights drama The Best of Enemies, starring Taraji P. Henson and Sam Rockwell.

In addition to his work in film and television, Strong has also ventured into theater, making his debut with a new book for the musical Chess, which premiered at the Kennedy Center.

Strong has also transitioned into directing, helming several episodes of Empire, and making his feature directorial debut with Rebel in the Rye, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was distributed by IFC Films.

Throughout his career, Strong has continued to act, appearing in recurring roles on highly acclaimed television shows such as Mad Men, Girls, Justified, Billions, and The Right Stuff.

Born and raised in Manhattan Beach, California, Strong attended the USC School of Dramatic Arts.
