In 1518, Pedro De Vargas, a young noble, inadvertently angers his ruthless neighbor, De Silva, who is also an Inquisition officer. Forced to flee, Pedro joins Cortez' expedition to Mexico with his friends Juan Garcia and Catana, a devoted servant girl. As they arrive in the lush new land, Cortez changes his mission from exploration to conquest, with only 500 men.
