Village policeman Franz Eberhofer is restless, with constant disturbances even in the quiet Bavarian province of Niederkaltenkirchen. His on-off girlfriend Susi leaves him for an Italian admirer, while an escaped psychopath seeks revenge, targeting Franz's superior Moratschek. Moratschek, panicked, declares Franz his personal bodyguard and moves into Franz's farm for protection.
