In 1863, a Union army squad is dispatched to Mississippi to dismantle the Confederacy's railroad infrastructure, but their mission is jeopardized by the arrival of a captivating Southern belle and the unit's medic, who spark internal conflicts within the group.
Col. Benjamin H. Grierson led a 1,700-strong troop on a mission through central Mississippi in the Spring of 1863, disrupting railroads and Confederate troop deployments before reaching Union-held Baton Rouge.
