Jeremiah, a young priest from Anathoth, receives visions from God warning of a northern ruler's impending attack on the Kingdom of Judah if the people continue to worship false idols. Despite his warnings, Jeremiah is accused of blasphemy and rejected by his family and community. With the help of Baruch, a temple scribe, Jeremiah continues to spread God's message, but faces opposition from the ruling classes, priesthood, and King. Eventually, as war with the Babylonians becomes inevitable, the people of Jerusalem begin to turn to Jeremiah, but the King's refusal to surrender the city leads to its destruction and the exile of its people.
