Victor Adamson, also known as Art Mix and Denver Dixon, was born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1890. He spent his early years in New Zealand, where he developed a passion for horse riding and roping. Adamson returned to the United States around 1916 or 1917 and attempted to break into the film industry in Hollywood, California. He had a small film released, and then began to produce, direct, and star in his own films, often under pseudonyms.
