Thomas P. Vitale is a prominent television and film writer/producer, specializing in science fiction, fantasy, and horror/supernatural programming and movies. As the founder of Vital Signs Entertainment, he is currently the Executive Producer of Pandora, a scripted series for The CW Network and Amazon streaming, as well as Slasher, a streaming horror series with original seasons on both Netflix and Shudder, and Safehaven, a YA genre series.
Prior to establishing Vital Signs Entertainment, Tom held the position of EVP at NBCU's Syfy Channel and Chiller Network, where he oversaw various aspects of programming, including scheduling, acquisitions, original movies, documentaries, specials, and series co-productions. During his tenure at Syfy, Tom transformed the network into one of the largest producers of original movies on television, creating the Saturday movie franchise, "The Most Dangerous Night of Television." This initiative resulted in over 350 original movies, including high-rated titles such as Mansquito, Ice Twisters, and Sharknado 1 & 2.
In the series world, Tom developed, commissioned, or supervised numerous original shows, including Z Nation, Dark Matter, Flash Gordon, Painkiller Jane, Tripping the Rift, and Farscape. He was also instrumental in bringing the successful Stargate franchise to Syfy and worked on various shows, from Battlestar Galactica to Stephen Spielberg Presents Taken to Eureka to Ghost Hunters to Paranormal Witness.
For Chiller, Tom was responsible for critically-acclaimed festival horror and supernatural films, such as Elijah Wood's The Boy and Animal, executive produced by Drew Barrymore. On the business side, Tom ran the networks' Programming departments, earning a reputation as one of the top deal makers in the cable television industry. He was a key member of the team that grew Syfy into a top-five rated cable network with a distinct brand identity.
Tom has also worked with various networks, including TNT/TBS, Fusion Network, El Rey Network, and the Shudder streaming service, and has created and/or set up programming and movies for numerous studios, streamers, and networks. Born and raised in the Bronx, Tom is a graduate of Williams College in Massachusetts and is a member of the WGA, PGA, and Mensa. He began his entertainment career in the famed Page Program at NBC.
