Born on November 20th, Shilpa Shirodkar is a renowned Indian actress who hails from a moderate Marathi-speaking household in Bombay. As the first of two sisters, she took to acting in Bollywood movies and has been a prominent figure in the industry ever since.
Growing up in the elite suburb of Khar in Bombay, Shilpa's career in Bollywood began after she was crowned Miss India in 1992. Her mother, Vanita, and sister, Namrata Shirodkar, who was also crowned Miss India in 1993, have been a constant source of support throughout her journey.
Shilpa's acting career has seen her take on a wide range of roles, including those that have showcased her cosmetic appeal. She has been a part of several films, including Kishen Kanhaiya, Chhoti Bahoo, Bandish, Apradhi, Dand Nayak, Gaja Gamini, and Bhrashtachar.
The actress is also the granddaughter of Meenakshi Shirodkar, a renowned actress who starred in the 1930s film Brahmachari and was the first actress to wear a swimsuit and gambol in a pool. Meenakshi's iconic role in the film featured her playing the role of Lord Krishna bathing in the Holy river Yamuna with his gopis.
In her personal life, Shilpa got married to Aparesh Ranjit on July 8, 2000, in a marriage arranged by their respective families. The couple relocated to New Zealand, the Netherlands, and finally settled in London, where Aparesh found employment with Barclays Bank.
Shilpa gave birth to a daughter, Anushka, in 2003 and has since been a full-time mom. She continues to visit India every year and has a loyal fan base that eagerly awaits her comeback to the silver screen.
