Sheila Sawhny, a multifaceted creative force, hails from the vibrant city of Bombay, India. Her family's relocation to Queens, New York when she was a teenager marked the beginning of a new chapter in her life.
With a string of impressive accolades to her name, Sheila is a winner of the prestigious Slamdance Feature Screenplay Competition. She has also been honored as a Fellow of the Outfest Screenwriting Lab and the DreamAgo Plume et Pellicle Screenwriting Lab in Switzerland, a testament to her exceptional writing talent.
As a talented actress, Sheila has had the privilege of starring in several theatrical productions, including "All Right Man" and "The Best Best Western". Her passion for the craft has driven her to take on multiple roles, including acting, writing, directing, and producing in various cities across the globe, including New York, Los Angeles, and Europe.
Sheila is a founding member of Synchronicity Theatre Group NY, and her impressive body of work includes writing and directing the critically acclaimed productions "No Tell Motel", which premiered at Studio Stage, and "Baby Steps", which was produced at VS Theatre.
As an accomplished actress, Sheila has had the opportunity to take on a wide range of roles, including Emily in the European tour of "Our Town" and Georgie in the acclaimed LA theatrical production of "A Clockwork Orange".
In addition to her work in the entertainment industry, Sheila serves as the Programming Manager of Film Independent's Global Media Makers. She has recently wrapped principal photography on her latest short film project, "Stay With Me", in collaboration with Panther Pictures.
