Sara Elizabeth Dallin, a talented singer/songwriter, was born on December 17, 1961, in the vibrant city of Bristol, England. Her early life was marked by a serendipitous encounter with fellow musician Keren Woodward at the tender age of five, while attending the prestigious St. George's School for Girls. This chance meeting would lay the foundation for a lifelong creative partnership.
After completing her education, Dallin went on to study journalism at the renowned London College of Fashion. It was during this period that she, along with Keren Woodward, would form the iconic all-girl pop group Bananarama in 1979, alongside Siobhan Fahey. The trio's unique sound and style would soon propel them to international stardom, with a string of hit singles that dominated the charts throughout the 1980s. Some of their most notable hits include the timeless classics "Venus," "Cruel Summer," "I Heard a Rumour," and "Love in the First Degree."
In 1988, Siobhan Fahey left the group, and Jacquie O'Sullivan took her place. However, O'Sullivan would also eventually depart in 1991. Despite these changes, Dallin and Woodward continued to tour and record as a duo, cementing their status as the core and driving force behind Bananarama.
Outside of her musical endeavors, Sara has also made headlines for her personal life. She was once engaged to Bananarama dancer Bassey Walker and gave birth to a beautiful daughter, Alice, in 1991. Although she and Walker have since separated, Dallin has remained devoted to her family and continues to thrive in the ever-changing music industry.
