Writer, Director and Producer Rupert Wyatt was born and raised in the South of England, a region that undoubtedly played a significant role in shaping his creative perspective and artistic vision.
He is the founding member of the film collective Picture Farm, a prestigious organization that has produced a wide range of projects, including numerous documentaries and feature films. Some of these notable productions include the multi-award winning DARK DAYS (2001) and FISHING WITHOUT NETS (2014),both of which won audience awards at the Sundance Film Festival.
Wyatt's directorial debut was THE ESCAPIST (2008),a critically acclaimed film that premiered at the Sundance film festival and received nominations for eight international awards. The film starred an impressive ensemble cast, including Brian Cox, Damian Lewis, Dominic Cooper, and Joseph Fiennes.
As a screenwriter, Wyatt has worked with renowned producers such as Claudie Ossard, known for her work on the film AMELIE, and Jean-Pierre Ramsay, who produced TOTAL ECLIPSE. He has also written screenplays for prominent studios like 20th Century Fox, Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros, Universal Studios, and Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Wyatt's second film as director was RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES (2011),a 20th Century Fox production that starred the talented Andy Serkis. The film was a massive success, both critically and commercially, and spawned a sequel, with a second installment soon to be released.
In 2013, Wyatt directed the pilot episode of AMC's TURN, a show that is currently in production for its fourth season. The following year, he released THE GAMBLER, a Paramount Pictures film that starred Mark Wahlberg, Brie Larson, John Goodman, and Jessica Lange.
As of 2016, Wyatt resides between Los Angeles and Hudson, New York, where he shares a home with his wife, Erica Beeney, a filmmaker in her own right, and their three children.
