Ron Scalpello began his journey in music journalism at the tender age of seventeen, commencing a five-year stint with Sounds in the early 1990s. During this period, he had the unique opportunity to interview, review, and socialize with an array of influential artists, including The Fall, Public Enemy, and The Jesus and Mary Chain.
Subsequently, Ron decided to pursue his passion for film, enrolling in a Bachelor of Arts program in Film and Video production. Concurrently, he continued to direct over twenty pop promos and contributed to various publications, such as Dazed and Confused and Goal magazine.
Following his academic endeavors, Ron joined the BBC as an in-house director, where he went on to direct numerous promos, commercials, and music videos. His notable work includes the visually striking video for The Prodigy's "Voodoo People," which earned him several accolades, including the Best Director award at the UK Promax for his commercial for Radio 5 Live.
Ron's debut feature film, Offender, starring Joe Cole, English Frank, and Kimberly Nixon, was released in the summer of 2012 by Revolver Entertainment. His subsequent projects include Pressure, a thriller starring Danny Huston, Matthew Goode, and Joe Cole, as well as original scripts such as The Manager, a football-biz satire for television with Rogue Films, and a remake of The Fourth Protocol with Newscope.
