Rebekah, a pioneering Neurodivergent Director, has dedicated her career to promoting inclusivity in the film and television industry for creatives, cast, and crew with both visible and invisible disabilities.
As someone who wasn't diagnosed with Autism until recently, Rebekah struggled to find her place during her childhood and adolescence. However, she discovered her passion for creating when she was younger. In 2017, Rebekah's micro-budget debut feature film, "Just Charlie," was released to widespread critical acclaim, garnering numerous awards, including the Audience Award at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and the Cannes Film Festival Ecrans Junior Award. The film has been screened at festivals worldwide and was nominated for two British Independent Film Awards.
Rebekah's short film, "Her Majesty," has won several Oscar and BAFTA qualifying festivals, and her latest Science Fiction short, "Bebe AI," has also won numerous Academy and BAFTA qualifying festivals. She is currently developing several projects at various stages, including co-writing for TV the post-apocalyptic female-driven Western "Barren" and the supernatural thriller "The Corrective," which received early development funding from the British Film Institute. Rebekah is also working on the Sci-Fi thriller "Arcadia," which is being developed with Screen Yorkshire.
Rebekah is an alumnus of the Edinburgh Talent Lab, the British Independent Film Awards' Springboard, the Breaking thru the Lens Network at the London Film Festival, Flex (Screen Yorkshire),and Directors UK, where she sits on the access and inclusion committee. In addition to her work as a director, Rebekah is dedicated to preparing young actors with disabilities for careers in front of and behind the camera.
Rebekah is currently working on her second feature film, "Learning To Breathe Under Water," produced by Jack Tarling (God's Own Country),which was selected for the Berlinale Talents and nominated for the VFF talent award. The film has been signed with Bankside Films and was included on the 2021 Brit List.
