Rachel Griffiths

Anna Griffiths, her mother, is a seasoned art consultant, bringing a keen eye for detail and creative flair to her work. Her uncle, a devoted Jesuit priest, has dedicated his life to serving others, demonstrating the importance of compassion and dedication. Griffiths is one of three siblings, with two older brothers who have forged their own paths in life. One brother, Ben, has found success as a ski instructor, sharing his passion for the outdoors with others. Griffiths spent the early years of her life on the picturesque Gold Coast, Queensland, before relocating to Melbourne at the tender age of five. This move marked the beginning of a new chapter in her life, as she settled into a new home and began to explore her creative side. Griffiths attended Star of the Sea Catholic Girls' College, where she excelled academically and developed a love for the performing arts. She was introduced to the world of ballet at a young age, and it became a significant part of her childhood. However, her family life was not without its challenges. When Griffiths was just 11 years old, her father left home with an 18-year-old woman, leaving her and her siblings to navigate the complexities of divorce. Her mother, an art teacher at the time, stepped up to raise the children alone, demonstrating her strength and resilience in the face of adversity. Despite these challenges, Griffiths remained focused on her education, earning a degree in dance and drama. Her passion for the performing arts led her to work with The Woolly Jumpers, a theatre company based in Geelong. It was during this time that Griffiths' talent and dedication caught the attention of the film industry, and she went on to star in the iconic Australian film Muriel's Wedding in 1994.
