Akeem Jamahl Mair was born on September 16, 1988, in Pasadena, California, to entrepreneur Errol James Mair and Queen Alice Mair, a public service professional. He was named after Eddie Murphy's character in the box office hit Coming to America and is the oldest of four siblings.
Akeem developed an interest in acting as a child at Linda Vista Elementary school in Pasadena, California, performing in many school productions. He then attended John Marshall Fundamental High School in Pasadena, California, receiving his High School Diploma in June 2007.
After graduating high school, Akeem took college courses at Pasadena City College in pursuit of a business degree to become a financial banker. However, a loyal customer's comment at his daytime job changed his passion to pursue acting.
Akeem has booked several principle and leading roles in various California Universities, Warner Brother productions, and independent filmmaker productions. He has appeared in numerous films, including Hannah and her Sisters, Good Will Hunting, and Life of a Villain.
At Columbia College of Hollywood productions, Akeem was involved in two lead roles, All about the Money and A Wonderful World. At University of Southern California, he booked leading roles in Spotted, Born Forth of July, and Initiation. At University of California, Los Angeles, he booked leading roles in The old College Try, Adagio, and Initiation.
Two New York Film Academy films featuring Akeem, The Kidnap and Fine Line, were screened with Warner Brothers and garnered praise. Akeem has also booked some big independent films, such as Red, Jolly Boy, Happy Birthday, Gangster City, and Another Crazy Christmas.
On the web, Akeem has been involved in many web series episodes of Motivate Me and Blood of the Dead. He also stars in the YouTube channel Girls going Viral.
