Nikos Rizos, a renowned Greek actor, embarked on a prolific career spanning multiple decades, leaving an indelible mark on the world of cinema and theatre. His journey began in 1948 with the theatrical production "Anthropoi, anthropoi" at the prestigious Metropolitan Theatre, marking the inception of his illustrious career.
As he continued to hone his craft, Rizos founded his own company in 1959, which he co-ran with Vasilis Avlonitis and Georgia Vasileiadou from 1961 onwards. This entrepreneurial venture enabled him to expand his reach, appearing in numerous comedies not only in Greece but also in Germany, catering to the immigrant Greek community abroad.
Throughout his career, Rizos starred in an impressive array of around 200 comedy films, including the iconic "The Taxi Driver" (1953),"The Dead Man's Treasure" (1959),"O Klearhos, i Marina kai o kontos" (1961),"Symmoria eraston" (1972),and many more. His versatility and talent earned him a reputation as a master of his craft.
In addition to his work in film, Rizos also made a significant impact on television, starring alongside Martha Karagianni in the popular series "O dromos" (1977). His final television appearance was in the series "I aithousa tou thronou" (1998),directed by Tasos Athanasiadis, in 1999.
Rizos' later years were spent in Gyzi, where he suffered a heart attack on April 20, 1999. He subsequently passed away in an Athens hospital due to edema at the age of 74. His legacy lives on, and he is buried at the Athens First Cemetery, a testament to his enduring impact on the world of entertainment.
