Natia Dune was born into a family of performers and artists that spans three generations, her roots tracing back to the former Soviet republic of Georgia. Her grandmother, Medea Chakhava, was a renowned actress of Georgian theatre and cinematography, while her grandfather, Kote Makharadze, was an actor and TV commentator, widely recognized as one of the greatest in the Soviet Union and Georgia.
Natia's step-grandmother, Sofiko Chiaureli, was a celebrated Georgian actress who played over 100 roles in theatre and cinema worldwide, and was the muse of famous film director Sergei Parajanov. Natia's father, Ivane Makharadze, is an actor, photographer, and TV commentator, and her family is filled with other famous actors, including her aunt, Maka Makharadze, and cousins, Eka Chkheidze and Nato Murvanidze. This acting dynasty can be compared to the Barrymores of the United States.
Growing up surrounded by the arts, Natia began dancing ballet at the age of eight and continued for four years before moving to Monte Carlo, Monaco, after winning a scholarship to the Princess Grace Academy of Classical Dance. After many years of dancing, she took a break and moved to Paris, where she modeled professionally. She later moved to New York and studied acting at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute.
Natia has performed all over the world, including New York, Moscow, Los Angeles, Monte Carlo, and her native Tbilisi, Georgia.
