Maura Megan Knowles is a multifaceted creative force, exceling as an actor, singer, and writer. Her career in the entertainment industry spans numerous decades, with a debut in the film Bulworth (1998) after being discovered by Warren Beatty on the set of her first job in Los Angeles.
Throughout her tenure, Maura has appeared in a wide range of television shows, including Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999),Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (2015),Rosewood (2015),Stitchers (2015),Medium (2005),Lie to Me (2009),Numb3rs (2005),ER (1994),Girlfriends (2000),Titus (2000),Becker (1998),Providence (1999),and The Young and the Restless (1973). She has also had recurring roles in Common Ground (2023),Just Sayin' (2014),and The Bold and the Beautiful (1987). Most recently, she worked on the movie Match Dot Mom (2024).
As a singer, Maura has had the opportunity to take on roles in several musicals, including Francis Ford Coppola's adaptation of "Gidget" and the award-winning rock musical "Bare." She has also been a featured vocalist on numerous CDs and recently worked on the movie musical Spit Me Out (2024).
In addition to her acting and singing credits, Maura is a prolific writer. She was one of twelve songwriters accepted into the Mercer Great American Songwriting Program at Northwestern University in Chicago and has written screenplays, television pilots, and articles for various publications. Her plays and musicals in development have been featured in theatre festivals, including The Western Stage's Playwrights' Festival in Salinas, CA.
Maura is also a dedicated educator, serving as a Teaching Artist for Fountain Voices at Hollywood High School in Theatre Writing and as the Education Outreach Coordinator for Los Angeles' Musical Theatre Guild (MTG).
When not working on her many projects, Maura enjoys traveling, reading, and experimenting with gluten-free baking.
