Matthew McConaughey's Early Years in Acting
Matthew's journey in the world of acting began during his sophomore year at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana. It was during this time that he had the opportunity to perform in eight MainStage productions, earning the prestigious Ryan Champion Award for Excellence in Theatrical Performance not once, but twice, in 2007 and 2009. His impressive performances caught the attention of many, and he was able to continue his education at Wabash College, graduating Cum Laude in May 2009.
After graduating, Matthew moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, where he further pursued his passion for acting. He worked with several professional theatre companies and commercial agencies, honing his craft and gaining valuable experience. In 2011, he joined the professional theatre company NoExit Performance as a Company Member, initially serving as the Director of Development, where he was able to triple the company's capital in just one season. He later served as the Production Manager from 2012-2014.
During his time in Indianapolis, Matthew was able to perform a wide range of roles, including several leading roles, earning him the "Up and Coming Indianapolis Actors" award in 2013. However, he soon decided to pursue post-graduate actor education and made the move to New York City in March 2014.
In 2014, Matthew's first feature film, Suck It Up Buttercup, was released and began its national film festival tour. The film has since been featured as an Official Selection at several festivals and has won numerous awards, including Best Feature Drama, Best Ensemble, and Best of Festival, Jury Award.
Currently, Matthew is attending the prestigious William Esper Studio in New York City, where he is studying under the guidance of the renowned teacher, William Esper, in the studio's two-year core training program.
