Biography

Joseph Anthony Mantegna, Jr., a renowned American actor, has accumulated an impressive film and television portfolio, boasting over 200 appearances to his credit. Moreover, he has demonstrated his versatility by taking on additional roles as a producer, writer, and director. His most notable portrayal is arguably that of Joey Zasa in the esteemed Francis Ford Coppola epic, The Godfather Part III (1990),where he shared the screen with esteemed actors Al Pacino and Andy Garcia.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, to Mary Anne (Novelli),a shipping clerk, and Joseph Anthony Mantegna, Sr., an insurance salesman, Mantegna's Italian heritage has undoubtedly influenced his artistic pursuits. His early education in acting at the Goodman School of Drama laid the foundation for a lifelong passion for the craft. It is little surprise, then, that Mantegna has maintained a strong professional relationship with playwright-turned-screenwriter-director David Mamet, collaborating on several projects over the years.

In addition to his impressive filmography, Mantegna has also made a lasting impact on television, starring as SSA David Rossi on the long-running drama series Criminal Minds (2005-).
