Biography

Jeffrey Lynn Goldblum, a talented actor, was born on October 22, 1952, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Shirley (Temeles) and Harold L. Goldblum. His father, Harold, was of Russian Jewish descent, and his mother, Shirley, was of Austrian Jewish ancestry. Goldblum's early life was marked by his parents' occupations; his mother worked as a radiobroadcaster and ran an appliances firm, while his father was a doctor.

At the age of seventeen, Goldblum moved to New York City to pursue a career on the stage. He developed his unique style of delivery, which would later become a hallmark of his acting career. Goldblum's breakthrough role came when he appeared in Woody Allen's Annie Hall (1977),where he delivered a memorable line about forgetting his mantra.

Goldblum's early film roles included the remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) and the detective series Tenspeed and Brown Shoe (1980),in which he co-starred with Ben Vereen. He then appeared in the classic ensemble film The Big Chill (1983),which cemented his status as a rising star.

In the 1980s, Goldblum starred in a range of films, including The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension (1984),Into the Night (1985),and The Fly (1986),in which he played a breakthrough role alongside Geena Davis, whom he married from 1987 to 1990. The Fly also marked the beginning of a long-term collaboration with Davis, as they co-starred in two additional films: Transylvania 6-5000 (1985) and Earth Girls Are Easy (1988).

Goldblum's subsequent roles included Jurassic Park (1993) and its sequel The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997),as well as the alien invasion film Independence Day (1996). These films showcased his ability to play intelligent, nuanced characters, a trait that has become a hallmark of his acting career.

In the 2000s, Goldblum appeared in a range of critically acclaimed films, including Igby Goes Down (2002) and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004). He also returned to television, starring in the crime series Law & Order: Criminal Intent (2001).

Throughout his career, Goldblum has established himself as a versatile and talented actor, capable of playing a wide range of roles. His unique style and delivery have made him a beloved figure in the film industry, and he continues to be a respected and sought-after actor to this day.
