Harvey Laidman, a renowned figure in the entertainment industry, embarked on a remarkable journey that spanned multiple decades. Initially, he joined the prestigious Kenley Players in Warren, Ohio, where he spent three seasons honing his craft.

Following his graduation from the USC Cinema School, Laidman ventured to Los Angeles, where he worked at KTTV (Metromedia) for three years. This stint laid the foundation for his subsequent acceptance into the Directors Guild of America's Producer Training program.

As a member of this esteemed program, Laidman had the opportunity to work at Universal Studios, where he contributed to the production of iconic series such as The High Chaparral (1967) and Bonanza (1959). His expertise and dedication earned him a spot as an Assistant Director on feature films and television productions.

Subsequently, Laidman joined Lorimar Productions, where he served as a production manager and assistant director. This role ultimately led to his first directing assignment on The Waltons (1972) in 1975.
