German film, television, and voice actor, Eckart Dux, was born to a senior insurance inspector and would go on to carve out a successful career in the entertainment industry. Under the guidance of drama coach Else Bongers, Dux honed his acting skills in Berlin and made his stage debut at the tender age of 22 at the Renaissance-Theater.
As he transitioned to the screen, Dux first appeared in an adaptation of Shakespeare's The Merry Wives of Windsor in 1950, playing the role of Fenton. He continued to land supporting roles in films such as Das Haus in Montevideo alongside Curt Goetz, Briefträger Müller with Heinz Rühmann, and The Singing Ringing Tree, a fantasy film produced by Defa, in which he played the Handsome Prince.
Throughout the 1960s, Dux primarily worked in made-for-TV movies and as a series guest actor, often taking on the role of police officers. His breakout roles included his portrayal of a young sergeant in the thriller Das Halstuch, and later, as Detective Superintendant Schlüter in the series Polizeifunk ruft and Hamburg Transit.
In addition to his work on television, Dux also had a recurring role as attorney Mike Rander in the humorous crime series Butler Parker. As his career progressed, Dux became increasingly involved in the world of radio plays and voice acting, lending his voice to a variety of projects.
One of Dux's most notable accomplishments was his work as a dubbing voice for several Hollywood stars, including Audie Murphy, Anthony Perkins, Ian McKellen, Steve Martin, George Peppard, Michael Caine, Charles Dance, Peter O'Toole, Michael Gambon, and Albert Finney.
