Derek Easley is a multifaceted individual with a vast array of skills and experiences in the entertainment industry. With a career spanning over a decade and a half, he has worked on a diverse range of projects, from low-budget horror films to high-budget blockbusters, and has even acted in projects for major Hollywood studios.
As a screenwriter, producer, and director, Derek has honed his craft under the guidance of some of the industry's top names. His work has gone viral online and has been featured in film festivals, showcasing his versatility and creativity.
Derek's extensive experience in the industry is evident in his numerous roles, including red carpet interviewer, film premiere security, production assistant, gaffer, assistant director, editor, script coverage, and stunt work. He has also worked in stage theater, division one sports, and martial arts, giving him a unique blend of skills and perspectives.
Some of his notable projects include the low-budget horror feature film Middle of the Night, which he produced and starred in, and is in the works to become a franchise. He has also worked on the film Jersey Boys with Clint Eastwood, and has performed in live improv comedy with the likes of Wayne Brady.
In addition to his work in film and television, Derek is the Chairman of the Long Beach Acting and Film Association (LBAFA),an organization he founded in 2012. LBAFA links industry professionals with students, provides mentorship, and produces short films that go to film festivals and give new talent IMDb credits. The organization has been so successful that Derek is starting a sister group in 2016 called the Bay Area Acting and Film Association (BAAFA).
As a teacher and motivational speaker, Derek has given lessons and speeches to numerous classrooms and film industry educational venues. He has also organized and hosted dozens of independent film showcases in Long Beach, and has produced over 500 YouTube videos.
In addition to his work in film and television, Derek has attended numerous comic cons and film festivals around the nation, often working as a credentialed media correspondent or featured as an invited film industry professional. He has moderated panels on topics ranging from indie filmmaking to Star Wars costumers and charities.
Derek is currently in production on his passion project, a feature documentary about body image in Hollywood called Typecast, which features Danny Trejo and various other celebrities.
