Biography

David Whitney, a renowned British filmmaker, has garnered widespread recognition for his work on various projects. Notably, he directed the acclaimed BBC feature documentary "Killing Escobar" and its follow-up "Dogs of War" for BBC Storyville. The former documentary received global broadcast and was streamed on prominent platforms such as Netflix, Peacock, and many others, ultimately earning David the BAFTA Scotland award for Best Director (Factual).

In 2024, David will direct the series "Special Forces: Most Daring Missions" for Paramount+, with Tom Hardy narrating and executive producing.

David's inaugural feature film, "Kandahar Break," was filmed in Pakistan and Tunisia and released by eOne Entertainment in the US and Revolver in the UK. The film was also acquired by Netflix.

On television, David has directed four episodes of the BBC drama "Moving On" for writer Jimmy McGovern.
