Biography

César Alejandro embarked on a theatrical career, joining Spanish Rep (Off-Broadway) and INTAR (Off-Broadway) from 1985 to 1990. During this period, he discovered his passion for cinema and relocated to Mexico City, appearing in 10 Mexican films, including starring roles in El Amarrador I & II, which was the first screenplay he wrote and sold.

He then moved to El Paso, Texas, and founded Alexandria Films in 1992, producing 15 action films in Spanish for the U.S. Hispanic and Mexican markets, all from his own scripts. Subsequently, he began producing films in English, focusing on the action genre for the global market, with titles such as Fatal Lottery, Without Limit, and Border Wars, which were shot in both English and Spanish and sold in 25 countries.

In 1998, Alejandro produced and directed his first Message Drama, Down for the Barrio, in 35mm, for theatrical release, which won the Cine Sol film festival. He then distributed his second message movie, Juarez: Stages of Fear, starring Chris Penn, and his first comedy, Da Pinche Code, a spoof on independent filmmaking, in 2006.

His Immigration drama, The Line that Divides, his 9th movie about the border between the United States and Mexico, was selected by seven festivals in Europe and one in Mexico, after editing was completed in March 2019, although the movie was shot two years prior.

Born and raised in Mexico, Alejandro became a naturalized American Citizen at the age of 22, after moving to the United States. He later returned to college in 2009 and earned a Master in Arts degree from the University of Texas at El Paso, honing his writing skills in English, his second language, with the goal of becoming a literary writer.

As a result, five of his short stories have been published by various literary magazines, and his first novel, A Familial Story, is set to be printed in 2021.
