Biography

Callum Keith Rennie was born in Sunderland, England, and later relocated to Edmonton, Alberta, where he spent his formative years. During his college days in Edmonton, Rennie was approached to join a radio show alongside actor and comedian Bruce McCulloch, who would later gain fame as part of the iconic comedy troupe, The Kids in the Hall. This experience sparked Rennie's interest in the world of acting, leading him to audition for the renowned Shaw Festival.

Rennie's impressive performances at the Shaw Festival caught the attention of the Toronto film community, but instead of pursuing opportunities in Toronto, he decided to head west to Vancouver. It didn't take long for him to make a name for himself in the film and television industry, which was rapidly growing at the time. Rennie's breakthrough role came opposite Sandra Oh in the independent film Double Happiness, earning him his first nomination and award.

Rennie's critically acclaimed performance in the punk rock film Hard Core Logo, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, solidified his reputation as a talented actor. His subsequent roles in films like Last Night, opposite Sandra Oh, and his win for Best Performance by an Actor at the Genie Awards, further cemented his status as a rising star.

As his career continued to flourish, Rennie worked with some of the most acclaimed filmmakers in the industry, including David Cronenberg, Christopher Nolan, John Woo, Chris Carter, and David Goyer. He appeared in a wide range of projects, from independent films like Flower & Garnet and Snow Cake, to blockbuster franchises like X-Men and Blade.

Rennie's versatility as an actor also led him to take on starring roles in television series, including Due South, Battlestar Galactica, Californication, and The Firm. He has also appeared in numerous other television shows and films, including The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet, Into the Forest, Born to Be Blue, and Marvel's Jessica Jones.

In recent years, Rennie has continued to work on a wide range of projects, including the YouTube Red series Impulse, and the Amazon series The Man in the High Castle. With a career spanning over three decades, Callum Keith Rennie has established himself as one of the most respected and sought-after actors in the industry.
