Anthony Heald's life story began on August 25, 1944, in New Rochelle, New York, where he was born Philip Anthony Mair Heald. He spent his formative years on Long Island, New York, attending Massapequa High School, which he graduated from in 1962.
After completing his secondary education, Heald furthered his academic pursuits at Michigan State University, earning his degree in 1971. Following his educational endeavors, he relocated to Ashland, Oregon, where he became an integral part of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival acting company from 1997 to 1999.
