Biography

Anna Kyriakou, a renowned Greek actress, embarked on her theatrical journey as a teenager, making her debut at the REX Theater with the Marika Kotopouli troupe in the iconic play "Carmen". Subsequently, she collaborated with esteemed troupes, including Manolidou-Pappas, Vasilis Logothetidis, Katerina Andreadi, Manos Katrakis, and Dimitris Myrat's troupe.

After completing her studies at the Drama School of the National Theater and the Ecole de théâtre Charles Dullin in Paris, where she was mentored by the illustrious Jean Vilar, Kyriakou returned to Greece and continued to flourish in her career. She worked with prominent directors, such as Dinos Iliopoulos, Mimis Fotopoulos, and Alekos Alexandrakis, starring in leading roles in various productions.

Notably, Kyriakou spent over 20 years collaborating with the National Theatre, making her debut with a remarkable performance as Calliope in "Temptation" by Grigorios Xenopoulos. During her time at the National Theatre, she participated in 34 plays from 1960 to 1981, solidifying her position as a respected and accomplished actress.

In addition to her work in theatre, Kyriakou also made a significant impact in the world of cinema, appearing in notable films such as "O methystakas" (1950),"Ziteitai pseftis" (1961),"Bridegroom Urgently Wanted" (1971),"Safe Sex" (1999),"To klama vgike ap' ton Paradeiso" (2001),and "Blackmail Boy" (2003),among others.

Kyriakou's television credits include appearances in popular series, such as "Ekeinos ki ekeinos" (1972),"I geitonia mas" (1972),"Yungermann" (1976),"Oi treis Harites" (1990),and "Constantine's and Helen's" (1998),as well as a guest role in "Epta thanasimes petheres" (2004). Her extensive repertoire in radio drama further highlights her versatility as a performer.

Throughout her illustrious career, Kyriakou has been a dedicated member of the Union of Greek Actors since 1949. She was married to the renowned modernist architect Margaritis Apostolidis, with whom she had a son, civil engineer Christos Apostolidis.
