Anna Gutto is a talented director, screenwriter, and actor who has been involved in the theater and film industry since her childhood. Born in Norway to artists Karin Eie and Guttorm Guttormsgaard, she grew up surrounded by art and creativity, which has had a profound impact on her work.
As a child, Anna spent her formative years in her father's studio and her mother's pottery workshop, where she received an arts education from a young age. This foundation has been instrumental in shaping her creative vision and artistic style.
Anna's early career took her to Norway, where she worked at several renowned state theaters before making the move to New York in her early twenties. There, she became the Artistic Director of two theater companies, launching 10 plays in 10 years that received critical acclaim. The New York Times praised her work as "universally excellent."
In addition to her work in theater, Anna has also had a successful career in film. She received her MFA in Film from Columbia University, graduating with honors in May 2016. Her short film "A Lucky Man" (2017) won the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Production Grant, and her feature script "Paradise Highway" (2016) won the Zaki Gordon Award for Excellence in Screenwriting.
Anna's debut feature film, "Paradise Highway," premiered at the Piazza Grande at the 2022 Locarno Film Festival, starring Academy Award-winning actors Juliette Binoche and Morgan Freeman, alongside Hala Finley, Cameron Monaghan, and Frank Grillo. The film received widespread critical acclaim, with Variety praising it as a "singularly promising debut for a first-time feature filmmaker."
Today, Anna lives in Santa Monica with her husband, Michael Soussan, and their two children.
