Biography

Next person biography:

Sasha Kerbel was born in Moscow, Russia, to Lev Kerbel, a renowned sculptor of the USSR, and Maria Kerbel. She grew up with her sisters, Katya and Julia, both artists. Sasha is a professionally trained actress, having graduated from the Institute of the Russian Theatre with honors, as well as the Moscow State Academy of Fine Arts and having a degree in journalism.

As a child, Sasha knew she wanted to be an actress, and her talent for entertaining was evident. She started performing at school, where her sister Katya organized a theater group. Sasha took on lead roles, and her performances were a huge success. However, her curiosity led her to explore other areas, including forming a rock band with Katya, which unfortunately didn't last long.

At 15, Sasha became a reporter for Moscow's major youth newspaper, "Moskovskiy Komsomolets," and soon transitioned to TV News on National Channel 3. She was one of Russia's best young TV reporters by the age of 17. Despite her success, Sasha still dreamed of an acting career, but her busy schedule as a TV news reporter and student made it difficult.

Sasha's experience as a reporter led to her being moved to safer assignments, which she found boring. On her days off, she auditioned for Moscow's music FM-station, radio "Maximum," and landed a job as a DJ and host. She soon became a star, hosting shows on multiple radio stations, including BBC, and even had her own music show on Channel 31, broadcasted to over 200 countries.

Sasha's radio and TV career progressed rapidly, but she never forgot her dream of being an actress. In 2007, she quit her radio and TV career to focus on acting. She began by auditioning and being accepted into a Moscow college of performing arts and got a contract with the famous Moscow theater, "U Nikitskikh vorot."

Sasha graduated in 2011 with honors and went on to star in the short film "Devyatoe oblako" (2010),which won the "Best Short" award at the International Film Festival "The Bridge." She continued to act in theater, movies, and TV in Russia.

In 2013, American director Timothy Hines offered Sasha a role in the historical drama "10 Days in a Madhouse" (2015),about the life of Nellie Bly. When the film was released in 2015, Sasha was offered to stay in the US and continue her acting career. She now lives in Los Angeles, CA, is married, and has a son.
