Biography

Alain Desrochers began his academic journey at St-Jean-Sur-Richelieu College in the early 1980s, laying the foundation for his future pursuits.

He then went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Concordia University, a testament to his dedication and passion for the arts.

Desrochers' filmmaking career commenced with an impressive array of over one hundred music videos and television commercials, garnering numerous awards and accolades for his work.

As he transitioned into fiction, he directed several short films, showcasing his versatility and range as a filmmaker.

His breakthrough into feature-length films came with "La Bouteille" in 2000, which earned him a nomination for Best Direction at the Genie Awards.

Desrochers then went on to helm "Music Hall I" and "Music Hall II" and the first season of the hit comedy "Les Bougon: C'est Aussi ça la Vie," solidifying his presence in the industry.

He made his mark on the English-language market with the cult sci-fi series "Charlie Jade," further expanding his repertoire.

Desrochers' subsequent directorial efforts included the action-thriller "Nitro," starring Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge and Lucie Laurier, which received widespread critical and commercial acclaim.

He then directed "Musée Éden," a big-budget miniseries, which earned him a Rockie Award in Banff, an Artistic & Technical Contribution Award in La Rochelle, and a nomination for Best Direction in a Dramatic Series at the Gémeaux Awards 2010.

Desrochers' subsequent projects included "Cabotins," a feature comedy starring Rémy Girard and Yves Jacques, and "Gerry," a biopic about Offenbach's lead singer, Gerry Boulet.

He continued to diversify his work by directing "Les Limiers" for France 2 and "La Marraine" for Série +, cementing his status as a talented and versatile filmmaker.
