He-Man and his friends, including Duncan "Man-at-Arms" and his daughter Teela, battle Skeletor's dark army to rescue the inventor Gwildor and retrieve the Cosmic Key. However, they are defeated and forced to flee, losing the key in the process. The key is then found by Julie and Kevin, who inadvertently activate it, believing it's a musical instrument. Meanwhile, Skeletor sends Evil-Lyn to Earth to retrieve the key and defeat He-Man and his friends.
