Biography

Meg Foster is a talented actress born on May 10, 1948, in Reading, Pennsylvania, to David and Nancy. She is the eldest of five siblings and grew up in the charming town of Rowayton, Connecticut. Foster's early interest in acting led her to study at the renowned Neighborhood Playhouse in New York.

Her professional journey began in 1969 with a guest appearance on the NET Playhouse series. Throughout the 1970s, she made numerous television appearances, including episodes of Barnaby Jones, The Six Million Dollar Man, and Hawaii Five-O. Foster's notable role during this period was Hester Prynne in the 1979 miniseries The Scarlet Letter.

However, it wasn't until 1982 that Foster gained significant attention, replacing Loretta Swit as Christine Cagney in the popular television series Cagney & Lacey. Although she was later replaced by Sharon Gless, Foster's performance was well-received.

The late 1980s saw Foster transitioning to film, with notable roles in Masters of the Universe, They Live, Stepfather II: Make Room for Daddy, and Blind Fury. Her performances in these films showcased her versatility as an actress.

Throughout the 1990s, Foster continued to work prolifically, primarily in science fiction films and television shows. She made guest appearances on popular series such as Quantum Leap, ER, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Murder, She Wrote, and Sliders.

After a 2000 episode of Xena: Warrior Princess, Foster took a decade-long hiatus from the acting industry. She returned in 2011 with roles in indie films 25 Hill and Sebastian, as well as a villainous role in Rob Zombie's The Lords of Salem. Foster continued to appear in various television shows, including The Originals, Pretty Little Liars, and Ravenswood.

In addition to her acting career, Foster has a son, Christopher, with Ron Starr, and was previously married to actor Stephen McHattie.
