In 1649, Cardinal Mazarin hires D'Artagnan to find the other Musketeers as he fears revolt from the Duke of Beaufort, who has escaped prison. Porthos joins, but Aramis and Athos secretly aid the Duke, leading to their expulsion. The Musketeers must now rescue Charles I in London, evade the vengeful Justine de Winter, and serve Queen Anne while securing Beaufort's reforms.
