Inspector Gadget is on a stakeout in Riverton, but everything seems too quiet. He's convinced that evil is lurking and decides to make an arrest, but things don't go as planned. He reports to headquarters, where he's told he needs to fix some glitches in his crime-fighting gadgets. Just then, he's confronted by his furious Chief Quimby, who reveals that the person he arrested is his own mother. Gadget is put on probation and tasked with capturing his arch-nemesis, Claw, who has just escaped from prison.
