In the Midlands, a trio of men struggle with their lives: Richard, a husband and father, faces a dead-end job and a failing marriage due to his childish fascination with 11th-century battle reenactments. His friend Julian is stuck in the past, obsessed with Vikings and Star Trek, while his son Martin is bullied at school partly because of his father's eccentric hobby.
