In a Viking village, a clever young boy named Wickie is tasked by his chief, Halvar, to steal from a group of knights. However, Wickie is instead kidnapped along with a group of Eskimo slaves who are carrying a mysterious manuscript. As Wickie tries to escape, he is aided by a reluctant thief who stows away on the ship. Together, they decipher the manuscript, but their plans are foiled when they are drugged and Halvar is taken captive. With the chieftaincy now falling to him, Wickie must learn to grow into his new role and navigate the challenges that come with it.
