In Italy, Kuki, a single mother, has a life-changing car accident in 1972. She survives but is hospitalized, leading her to reevaluate her existence. Paolo, the driver responsible for the accident, visits her and befriends her son Emanuele, sharing their passion for Africa. They eventually get married and move to Kenya, where they rebuild their ranch and Emanuele attends boarding school.
