Biography

Eva Marie Saint is a talented actress and producer, born on July 4, 1924, in Newark, New Jersey. She has had a long and illustrious career in film, with a wide range of roles in many notable movies.

Saint made her feature film debut in the iconic movie "On the Waterfront" (1954),directed by Elia Kazan and starring Marlon Brando. Her performance in this film earned her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, launching her movie career.

She then went on to star in the pioneering drama "A Hatful of Rain" (1957),which tackled the sensitive topic of drug addiction, alongside Don Murray and Anthony Franciosa. Saint also appeared in the lavish Civil War epic "Raintree County" (1957),alongside Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery Clift.

In 1959, Saint surprised many by being chosen by director Alfred Hitchcock for the femme fatale role in his suspense classic "North by Northwest". This film, starring Cary Grant and James Mason, updated and expanded upon Hitchcock's earlier "wrong man" spy adventures, and became a box-office success and a lasting influence on the spy film genre.

Throughout her career, Saint has appeared in a wide range of films, including "Exodus" (1960),"The Russians Are Coming the Russians Are Coming" (1966),"Grand Prix" (1966),"Nothing in Common" (1986),"Because of Winn-Dixie" (2005),"Superman Returns" (2006),and "Winter's Tale" (2014).
