Biography

The distinguished alumnus of Eton College, following his stint in the British Army's National Service, endeavored to break into the film industry, only to discover that the doors were firmly shut, thus compelling him to dedicate approximately two decades to crafting commercials.

However, it was David Putnam who extended an opportunity for him to helm the acclaimed film Chariots of Fire, which catapulted him to stardom and forever altered the trajectory of his career.

He crossed paths with his second wife, the talented actress Maryam d'Abo, when sought she his counsel regarding her aspiration to portray the lead role of Jane in his cinematic masterpiece, Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes, released in 1984.

Fifteen years later, their paths reconverged at a lavish dinner party, where they rekindled their connection. Four years subsequently, in the year 2003, they exchanged vows in a joyous celebration of their union.
