A young journalist starts his career at the Enquirer, partnering with a seasoned but complacent reporter, who initially dismisses the newcomer's eagerness but comes to recognize his skills and determination, even saving his own job.

A young journalist, Jeff Flavin, starts his new job at the Enquirer and is paired with a seasoned but uncooperative reporter, Stu Woodrow. Despite the challenges, Jeff proves himself by covering a high-profile escape and saves Stu's job. However, Stu's behavior towards Jeff worsens, and Jeff becomes disillusioned with the profession.
